“This is Doctor Sheldon Cooper. Yeah, I need to cancel my
membership to the Planetarium…Well I'm sorry too, but there's just no room for
you in my wallet... Yeah, I understand, but it was between you and the Museum
of Natural History, and frankly, you don't have dinosaurs…Well I'll miss you
too. Bye bye.”
--Sheldon Cooper
After more picks from Dr. Cooper’s closet came to light, I
wondered just how many traits Sheldon shares with the famed Tyrannosaurus Rex from
his very own t-rex
t-shirt. We’re familiar with Sheldon’s fascination with all things science,
including the “king” of the Cretaceous period itself, but to what extent does
the shirt reflect its wearer? Can we really call it a label?
According to National Geographic:
Everything about this
ferocious predator, from its thick, heavy skull to its 4-foot-long
(1.2-meter-long) jaw, was designed for maximum bone-crushing action.
Coincidentally, everything from Sheldon’s thick, heavy skull
to his 12-inch-long (1 foot long) brain is designed for maximum theory-crushing
action.
Fossil evidence shows
that Tyrannosaurus was about 40 feet (12 meters) long and about 15 to 20 feet
(4.6 to 6 meters) tall.
The Tyrannosaurus Rex rivaled the length of an entire school
bus—nearly exactly the length of a train car. Sheldon similarities strike
again!
Tyrannosaurus Rex
lived in forested river valleys in North America during the late Cretaceous
period.
And Sheldon lives relatively nearby the Silicone Valley in
North America during the late…alright, I’m done reaching. Fun fact: T-rexes may
have lived as far west as present-day California before the tertiary
extinction. The more you know!
Perhaps the only things “lizard” about Sheldon Cooper are his
impeccable senses and forked tongue.
I kid. But you can still reflect Sheldon’s style, sans theory-crushing, by picking up your threads from Cool TV Props! As always, domestic shipping starts at just $4.95.
